Office Christmas Party is exactly what you would expect. It’s a stupid over the top comedy that doesn’t really offer anything new, however I must say I laughed a lot throughout and I kind of enjoyed it. When Jennifer Aniston’s character threatens to shut down her brother’s (T.J. Miller) company branch they decide to throw an epic Christmas party to woo a big client (Courtney B. Vance) to save the day.
I really like the idea of this movie, but the story isn’t anything amazing and has many sitcom-y moments. The story and characters are all over the place, but that didn’t hindered my enjoyment of the movie as I watched it. It’s not perfect, but for those 105 minutes it did it’s job and it entertained me, faults and all. It’s basically a really long decent SNL sketch. The one you enjoy in the moment, but will probably forget about the next day.
The cast features all the usual current big comedy players all in their usual roles. This time the scene stealers are the hilarious Kate McKinnon and Jillian Bell. They had many great moments. Overall though I enjoyed the cast and thought some weren’t utilized enough.
Office Christmas Party isn’t going to make my list of great Christmas movies, but you know it may make it into my rotation every now and then during the holiday season. It’s just plain old stupid comedy fun that did it’s job.
