Bad Moms is the surprise comedy of the summer! I wasn’t expecting this to be as enjoyable as it is. The story is familiar territory, but the movie is perfectly cast and filled with lots of laughs.

Kathryn Hahn is the scene stealer here, she’s hilarious and her character is the real stand out. Every time she’s not on screen I found myself anxiously awaiting her return and next laugh out loud moment. She’s great here, a terrific comedic performance! Mila Kunis is also good, but I always have a hard time shaking the voice of Meg Griffin from Family Guy, it’s all I hear. The other standout is Christina Applegate who nails the villain role, she’s so unlikeable and awful… you’ll hate her! She’s great!

Where the movie does fall a bit is wasting some of the other cast members. Kristen Bell’s character doesn’t really add that much to the overall movie. I’m sure she had a bigger storyline that was probably cut for time, but she’s really not given much to work with here besides the odd punchline. She does have some great moments, but her character doesn’t feel as memorable or as funny as the others. Some of the other supporting cast members like Jada Pinkett Smith and Annie Mumolo suffer the same fate. The off funny line, but not adding much more. They needed a bit more. I’m shocked Pinkett Smith would take such a small role.

Bad Moms isn’t a perfect movie at all, but it is a fun one. I laughed a lot. It was also nice to see a different batch of funny females and not the usual 4 or 5 that seem to be in every comedy. I love Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Tina Fey and Amy Poeler… but I’m really glad to not see them in this movie. This cast made Bad Moms fun and it works.
