I don’t understand why this keeps happening. Why does Adam Sandler continue to make terrible films? I know that he has the capability of making a good movie, he’s done it before (The Wedding Singer, Happy Gilmore and the brilliant Punch-Drunk Love). For some reason they just continue to green light these garbage scripts and assume that Sandler is going to put asses in the theatre. Not anymore… most people are getting smarter and deserve better! Seeing this film fail is giving me hope that people are turning and want better for their hard earned money.
Pixels is by far the worst film I have seen this year, and this is the same year Fifty Shades of Grey came out! I’m also going to be so bold as to say this is one of the worst films I have ever seen. There’s absolutely nothing good about this crap movie. Oh wait, the visual effects were cool, but that’s it. You can have all the most amazing visual effects in the world in this movie and nothing is going to save it. The script is a disaster! There are so many ridiculous, laughable (and not intentional) moments. I just can not buy that Kevin James would be the president of anything. Here we are though watching this fool play the President of the United States, nope sorry… right there you lost me. Also, watching Sandler just walk into the White House and go anywhere he wants cause his friend is the President is crazy! I know this is just a movie and an over the top action comedy, but some of the things I just can’t sustain my disbelief… and it’s not the fact that Pacman is destroying a city… it’s more that Michelle Monaghan would show any interest in Adam Sandler. Although I have that problem with all his leading ladies.
I just can’t get behind movies that feel like they were written by a 13 year old boy. It’s insane to think that an adult wrote this… wrote this dialogue! However it’s not shocking that the same writers worked on a lot of Sandler’s previous projects. Maybe Sandler just needs to find some better writing partners because these dudes are terrible!
One of the saddest thing about this movie is that Chris Columbus directed this. A director who has given us some of my favorite films… Adventures in Babysitting, Home Alone, Mrs. Doubtfire! If I hadn’t known that he had directed this, I would have assumed that this was the work of a new director. This is not the work of someone whose been in the industry making some classic comedies for decades. I will try to forgive you Chris, but it will be hard to forget this tarnish on your credits.
Avoid this at all costs! There is nothing fun here at all! Just a sad bunch of actors being upstaged and out acted by visual effects. I wonder if any of them read the script before signing on to this. Oh well it’s done and this shit storm was released on us. Take cover people this is a code red awful!
