Shaun the Sheep Movie is cute. It’s a nice little stop motion animated film that reminds me of the old school cartoons that relied solely on slapstick.
There is absolutely no dialogue in this movie (Not sure why there are credited voice actors… they basically are there just to make sounds). Having no dialogue certainly works and is a big reason this movie is good, but I don’t know that a lot of audiences are going to enjoy that. Myself, having a problem pay attention to this at times, I don’t really see a lot of kids nowadays having the attention span to sit through this without the goofy lines being spouted from your favourite A-lister. I think it could be a problem, but if given a chance I think most will enjoy it, but probably forget it soon after.
I do love stop motion animation. Every time I watch one I see the incredible detail and think of the amount of work it took just to make 5 seconds of this. I have such respect for these films, however not my favourite of them (I’ll give that to the fantastic Chicken Run) it’s still a fun little film that has some great slapstick humour and laughs.
