JURASSIC WORLD

★★★½

Starring Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Vincent D’Onofrio, BD Wong, Judy Greer
2015 / 124 Minutes / Universal Pictures

It could be the years of anticipation and build up waiting for another Jurassic Park movie, so it’s going to be a disappointment no matter what. Nothing will ever defeat the original, it’s a classic and you will always remember where you were the first time you saw T-Rex.

Jurassic World comes close to that, more so than any of the sequels ever did, but at times the story feels like it’s trying way to hard to make this the most epic Jurassic movie you’ll ever see. The problem is the story isn’t strong and is really less of a homage to the original and more of just a rehash. There’s not a lot of originality here and that’s the biggest disappointment. I also had a few eye rolling moments throughout of bad dialogue and stupid plot devices that just slowed things down.

However… Jurassic World is fun and entertaining and when you put those picky things aside and just enjoy the movie for what it is you’ll have a great time and be reminded of just how amazing the original film was. I think I’ll watch it again… the first one.
