The only thing I really got from this movie is the desire to watch the original 1990 film again. That said, I didn’t hate this movie. I expected it to be a disaster… it’s not amazing, but there are moments that are fun and remind me why I enjoyed the TMNT’s of the past. BUT… they deserve better than this. It’s ADD filmmaking and has Michael Bay’s signature all over it. Can’t we slow these movies down and give some character development? We know these characters, but there was barely any time spent on them that didn’t involved fast cuts and crazy action. A breath, that’s all I need with these movies. There is no down time. It would be nice if they spent some time on the screenplays and created a better story and spent more time on the characters… This year’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ is proof that it is possible to have a great story in an action superhero film. Blow me away with a great story… you’ll hold my attention more than 90 minutes of explosions and visual effects.
Surprisingly not terrible, but they definitely deserve better for the sequel.
